How we help the Parent with Care (PWC)

Parent with Care not receiving the child maintenance they should be?

The Parent with Care, usually shortened to PWC, is the term used by the Child Support Agency / CMEC to describe the parent who receives the Child Benefit or Family Allowance. This is the person who will receive any maintenance which may be due for the child or children.

If you want to claim child support, there are two main ways. The first is by reaching a private agreement with the other parent and keeping away from the Child Support Agency, which is a route we would encourage if at all possible. The second is to contact the Child Support Agency and register a claim with them.

Private Agreement for your child support

If both you and the other parent are serious about reaching a private agreement for your child support, let us help you both through the process. It is not difficult and we have the sole rights to a tailor-made piece of software which includes an up-to-the-minute calculator and access to a formal agreement. It is designed to let everyone keep records of what money, be it for new shoes, pocket money or actual child maintenance payments change hands and what arrangements are in place for the children. This can be for anything from school trips to the year ahead holidays. Talk to us today about Footprint Evidence Tracker, the other child maintenance option www.evidence-tracker.com.

Applying for child maintenance through the Child Support Agency or Child Maintenance Enforcement Commission (CMEC)

Whilst we would always encourage private agreements for child support, we know sometimes it just isn't going to happen. If you are the PWC and your existing private agreement has broken down or you have a new child support case and can see no prospect of reaching an agreement, then registering a claim with the Child Support Agency / CMEC is likely to be your best bet as they have all the powers they need to enforce a claim for child support. You can do this over their national helpline or on their website.

However, things do not always run smoothly so if you get to the point of thinking the Child Support Agency are ignoring you, appear to have lost your child support claim, are ignoring your information about how the other person is living whilst you have been awarded regular maintenance of £6 per week, are failing to enforce your child support arrears or anything else which is leaving you frustrated and angry with them, then contact us. We can help you with anything from trying to track down where your child support money has gone to full blown child maintenance Upper Tribunal representation.
